Yesterday, we reported that there were new developments about the mysterious Resident Evil 2 Steam achievement we’d noticed last month. We’d originally speculated it might be a Resident Evil 2 DLC. Now it looks like we might have been correct now that we know the achievement involves Jill, a letter, and in some way will tie together RE2 and R3MAKE.
But is the “Chasing Jill” achievement as simple as them adding a letter somewhere in Resident Evil 2? Some have suggested there will simply be a letter from Jill, which would be a great tie throwback to Jill’s Note from Resident Evil 2 on the Nintendo 64. However, nothing has confirmed this.
But after new info, it doesn’t look like it’ll be quite that cut and dry.
Interestingly, where PS4 and Steam use small thumbnails to mark achievements, Xbox One uses 1920×1080 images. Which is what makes this 20(G) achievement the real head-turner.
YEP! That’s Jill and Robert Kendo!
The achievement image that has appeared for Xbox One clearly shows R3MAKE’s Jill interacting with Robert Kendo. I think it’s also important to note, that this image is way different from the environment we last saw involving Kendo.
The first thing to note is, we never see Kendo from this perspective or angle in RE2. Secondly, there is NO rain. This alone is a stark comparison from RE2‘s continuous rainfall. This is definitely unique all around and it’s highly unlikely that this is set up solely for an achievement wallpaper .00001% of fans will actually pay attention to.
Hopefully, we might be on the verge of seeing a lot more from Raccoon City’s famous gun store owner. Resident Evil 2 (2019) and it’s No Time to Mourn DLC did a lot to give his character some depth, but truthfully the games have never done Kendo justice.
He’s not just a gun store owner that gets eaten within seconds of our meeting him, he has a huge role in Resident Evil lore. He custom made the majority of the weapons used by S.T.A.R.S. members and was very close friends with Barry Burton. Which, I’ve always believed it to be Barry that saves him by helicopter in his Ghost Survivors scenario.
So what’s it going to be Capcom? A free/paid DLC pack or scenario featuring Jill and Kendo? Or is this just an elaborate screenshot that will be condensed down into a series of notes or files in the main game.
I guess we’ll see in the next coming days or weeks.
