UPDATE: Since this posting, gamesonly.at has pulled the listing for Resident Evil 8 from their website.
With an announcement coming from Capcom for Resident Evil Ambassadors coming on the 10th and all the Resident Evil 8rumors going around, it has certainly been a busy time for the community.
Many thought that Resident Evil 8 could’ve been announced at the canceled and pending rescheduled Playstation 5 event that was supposed to happen last week. While we don’t know for sure, we have heard that a trailer is ready to launch when the time comes, so it might come event or no event and those within the leak community have also speculated that an announcement should come as early as this month.
To stoke those coals a bit more, it has come to our attention that an Austrian video game retail website has already placed a pre-order form on their website for the yet to be confirmed installment.
Gamesonly.at has listed Resident Evil 8 on their website for € 59.99 (approx. $67 USD), interestingly only for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Now rumor suggests, and it would make sense considering next-gen consoles should be available this holiday season, that RE8 will be released on both current and next-gen hardware. Of course, this could just only be listed for current-gen because of a lack of official dates on new hardware release.
Our research of the website shows that the company has been around since 1997 and the last time the domain registration was updated was in 2018 with a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot with over 130 reviews dating back to 2017. So whether they’re jumping the gun or know something we don’t is up for discussion, but the company itself seems to be legitimate. It is also important to note that comments on this listing date back to May 18th of this year, so it’s not a “new” listing.
It is also important to note that the artwork provided says non-official, meaning they’ve provided this artwork for the mockup.
Why does this seem familiar?
Before Resident Evil 3 remake was officially announced at Sony’s State of Play, we’d tracked down a listing of it on UK retailer, game.co.uk before its official announcement, and broke the story. Could this listing be a repeat of this?
