Neobards is working on revitalizing interest in Resident Evil Resistance by offering a free to play trial this weekend according to tweets by Game Director Al Yang.

First announced for a free three day trial on Steam, it has now expanded to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

If you didn’t purchase Resident Evil 3 and have been wanting to try out Resistance, now is the time to try before you buy.

The event started on Thursday, December 17th at 12:01 a.m. PST and will conclude on Sunday, December 20th at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Now is also a GREAT opportunity to pick up Resident Evil 3 for 67% off when you buy a digital copy from Mircosoft or Steam, which means Capcom’s latest remake can be yours for less than $20.

I would pay close attention to Resident Evil Resistance as we approach closer to more announcements on Resident Evil Village. Information from the hack would suggest that Village will have an online mode and Neobards would be handling content for it.

Now obviously, this could’ve been scrapped, but I was always thought support for Resident Evil Resistance was ended way too soon, and contrary to most of the community, I don’t think it was for lack of players. I think Neobards shifted focus to whatever Village online is, which I’m of the opinion that its Resistance with new game modes and mechanics.

I could be wrong, but I think doing a free trial for a multiplayer game you’re no longer rolling out new content for is a bit odd unless you’re conducting testing or trying to figure out interest levels.

Obviously, this is all my opinion, but it’ll be interesting to see what comes of this and from Village‘s online mode, should it come to pass.
